Take Flight & Write

A beautiful and infinitely refillable writing pen, equipped with a Japanese-made writing tip.

Every year, millions of disposable pens are thrown-away, adding to the growing environmental waste.
Tom thought it was about time to tackle one of the biggest culprits: the everyday writing pen.

Over the past year, we've been working with schools and organisations to intercept stationery waste at the source, preventing it from reaching landfill. This precious plastic is then meticulously separated and sorted to create the wonderful colours you see before you. Crafted in collaboration with the brilliant Brothers Make, each lid is made by chipping, injection-moulding and hand-finishing the reclaimed plastic – a process that’s more artisan than assembly line. This unique method means every lid is completely one-of-a-kind. This isn’t just a pen – it’s a small act of rebellion against waste, and a celebration of creativity.

What ink can I use?
The Wren is compatible with all standard Fountain Pen Inks and we have a beautiful range of colours, which are perfect for the Wren and can be found here. Please note the Wren is not suitable for use with our Shimmer Fountain Pen Inks or Calligraphy Inks.

Looking for a waterproof option? We’d suggest our No.60 Pigment Black, Sailor Kiwa-guro or Platinum Carbon inks - we’ve tested both, and they flow beautifully.

Some ink colours can concentrate in the tip, so you may experience a lighter colour after a line or two. This is completely normal and looks quite nice!

How do I store the reservoir and tips?
You can store reservoirs and tips, and change to a different colour using spare reservoirs and my reservoir storage containers.

How long will the tips/ink last?
You can expect the high-quality, Japanese-made tip to last for months of use. We tested a single ink fill in the Wren on a plotter – a device used for precision drawing – and it wrote consistently for 344 metres. That's the equivalent of 50 A4 pages of handwriting!

When the tip eventually dulls, you can find packs of three replacement tips here.

Anything else I should know?
Yes! I’ve designed the pen to include ‘micro-grooves’, tiny ridges that enhance grip without using plastics. Please note: the black and midnight colourways do not feature these micro-grooves, as they have a grippy matte finish.
